I’m Emily Mahaney, content strategist and digital media leader, and this is a photo of me looking infinitely more polished than I do on Zoom.

For the last 2.5 years, I’ve been full-time directing a multi-phase turnaround of the newsletter products at Yahoo News, one of the world’s most popular news portals.

Before Yahoo, I spent 10+ years in-house at magazine media brands and media start-ups. I was the Chief Content Officer at Katie Couric Media, Deputy Editor at Damn Joan and Features Director at Glamour. While at Glamour in 2015, I was named a Rising Star by Folio, which was kind of epic for a girl from rural Iowa.

With the trend in fractional leadership, I’ve had the pleasure of supporting media upstarts such as The Meteor and a portfolio of brands exploring new media such as SoulCycle.

I graduated from Iowa State University (let’s go, Cyclones!) and live in Brooklyn, New York.
